So as I was thinking about my last few blog entries last night as I was trying to go to sleep, I realized they've all been kinda depressing so far!! I mean, HELLO?! I'm having a blast here and I don't think that's been coming across in my blog posts, so I wanted to share some happy times this time :)

So first I'm going to continue to tell you all about some of the people in my group, since I've forgotten about that the past couple times. First, I will explain Adrian, since the funny story coming soon is about him. Adrian is probably close to 6'5" and has red curly hair, when it's long it kind of looks like an afro, but right now it's short so it's just curly. I went to high school with him, and then he went elsewhere for college, but then transferred into my college for a year so he could go to India on an abroad. Then he left again to finish school at his previous college, Tufts University. Also, on this abroad he's actually not spending much time with us. He has a couple of different interships around Israel and Palestine, and I think we will overlap in a few places for a short time, and then he will join us at the end in Jordan. He's a pretty cool guy, although sometimes he doesn't think before he acts, thus the story I am about to tell.

So our first morning in Tel Aviv (after my 13 hour sleep/hibernation) we were given time and money to go find breakfast for ourselves. The group I went out with, including Adrian, just started walking and we came upon a little grocery store. We decided we would just buy some bread, cheese, juice, and anything else that look good. So we had everything we wanted, but then the two boys in the group decided they wanted to buy some pepperoni (for breakfast...gross). But the butcher had other customers to deal with so it was taking a really long time. So while the other girl and I were waiting outside after buying our items, the guys were inside waiting on the butcher. So we're waiting and waiting, and I had gone in a couple of times to see what was taking so long, and then all of a sudden Adrian comes out to ask or tell us something but he's still holding some cheese that he was planning on buying. This means that he had left the store without paying for the cheese in his hand. Once I realize what had just happened, I immediately tell him to go back inside so someone doesn't think he's stealing it. But before he could comprehend what I was saying, a little old man that I suppose owned the shop came outside and starting "yelling" (more like talking sternly) at him in Hebrew! So I was telling him to go back inside, the little Jewish man was yelling at him, and he was still trying to tell us or ask us something. So the look on his face was HILARIOUS. He looked so confused and at a lost, but this is a 6'5" dude who's just standing there holding cheese. I don't know if the hilarity of the situation came across effectively in this post, but trust me. I was DYING once he got back inside...oh the fun you can have in a foreign country... :)

I'll also tell you about the other girl on our abroad named Katie. Of course, there had to be two Katie's, only one would be way too easy....
Anyway, she's from Pittsburgh, PA and has transferred around to a couple of different schools during her time in college. She's a Peace Studies major, which sounds kind of "hippy-ish" but it's actually pretty interesting sounding. Probably not the major I would choose if I had the option, but to each his own. But still, she kind of has that surfer personality where she just kind of goes with the flow and uses "dude" and "no worries" alot.  But basically she's hilarious and a little crazy, so she's a pretty fun person to have in the group. :)

Also I've put up some pictures on Picasa from our first week here! (My mind is absolutely BLOWN that we've only been here a week, it honestly feels like a month..)

Here's the link to the photo album!
