Later, we knocked (so to speak) at the door of a lady. She invited us *in* to her patio and invited us to sit down. The air was thick with the smell of some delicious homemade bread. We commented about it and she said that because they live so far from anywhere they always make their own bread, in their clay oven. Que rico!!! So we continue conversing with her and explaining to her the Require brochure. Everyonce in a while she would get up to check on it. At the end of the conversation, she got up to check on the bread again. She came back with a napkin and bread filled with pineapple (like a turnover) and fruity "frescos" (drinks). It was one of the most incredible things I have ever tasted. So we were on our way hiking down the mountain path to the next house, pineapple bread in hand. We were joking around because we had just eaten lunch and were so full, but I said, it doesnt matter. For certain things it is worth it to be over full. And that was one of them!
The day flew by, as we continued along and eventually ended up in a very small pueblo. We didnt know where we would be staying at night, it was one of those days like, we'll see where we end up and go from there. In the town was a community hall, and a school, so the brothers went off to inquire if we could rent the hall to set our tents up in
We got to the other hall, cleaned the floor and bathrooms, and set up camp. Everyone was good - especially Ana - she had it all... her mattress, sheets, pillows, etc. all set up on the floor. Only thing? She forgot her tent!!! So she just said, its ok, and set up camp. (I have pictures). We slept really well that night and set off on day 2.
Saturday was great, we preached alot in that larger town, and then went out on the road again. We met several Americans that have moved out there for the peace and beauty of the mountains. It was an encouraging day as several more friends from other congregations met up with us and we all went together. We came home tired but happy because it was a fun, productive weekend...
I'll be sure to post photos when I can!
