it appears to be the beginning of the rainy season here in costa rica.

we have met our GAP group now, again we are the only people actually on gap years and also the only people from England (you would think that we were the only people from england who had ever visited costa rica because we have been asked at least 3 times where we are from and when we say 'england' they say 'oh you have really strange accents'. i am assuming that most people speaking english here are american). anyway i fear that the people on the tour with us may not be cool... cant imagine where i got that idea from. Ellis, our GAP group leader, is a rasta from belize. he greeted us with this message: '' i am not your guide yeh, i just gotta getya from place to place yeh. doune ge' pissed wit' me if it raynes yeh. get pissed wit' God yeh.''
he seems charming

we got a local bus from san jose to la fortuna and if you are ever travelling in costa rica remember to add at least 2 hours to the time they tell you the journey will take. any way the bus got more and more crowded more hot. at the beginning of the bus journey the conductor had warned a few people to take their bags down from the overhead shelf and to keep an eye on their belongings and i am sad to say that we saw exactly why he had said so. about half way through the journey a man and a woman made a bit of a commotion next to our seats - she 'accidentally' dropped her glasses under my feet and he asked gabbie to open the window. luckily we both had our bags on our laps and our arms around them but a few minutes later, after the two of them had got off the bus, it turned out 2 bags were missing from above our heads.

we went for a 'hike' around the volcano. someone said ''boy, we're really getting some exercise'' and me and gabbie felt very smug as we had been walking at least double that distance before breakfast in peru. we also went to the baldi hot springs.

today we did waterfall rapelling which was very good fun and then sat and listened to the rain during a power cut.
ellis is taking some of the group out to supper yeh but i think we might give it a miss tonight.
