on our first morning here we went to the butterfly farm just outside of the city, it was gabbie's birthday present to me because she knows how much i love butterflies, and our little guide Diego was so positive and happy and the butterflies were beautiful and we saw some of them coming out of their cacoons and their wings were all floppy and new. it was a really really nice morning, he told us to 'open our eyes, open our hearts and open our sense and you wil see some really beautiful things'. in the afternoon we got the bus to the pacific coast - we didnt want to spend anymore time than we had to in san jose! we were told that the journey would take 3 hours but 5 hours later we still hadnt arrived, probably didn't help that the bus was going at about 10mph. just as we arrived at the hostel there was a whole area black out and we walked in on a bit of a confusion with darkness and matches. but at least i got candles for my birthday... well sort of
we spent yesterday on the beach until it rained and then went back to the hostel in the afternoon. its american run and very nice and we like it so much that we have booked ourselves back in for after our gap tour finishes. fingers crossed that there will be some nice people on the group with us and that when we get back to the hotel the 'helpful' receptionist will actually have our names on the list.
