I'm writing from the Dorchester Hotel in Naimano. WE've had a longish journey back from Tofino [and will have a longer drive tomorrow to Telegraph Cove in the extreme north of Vancouver Island]
Today we had a walk through some coastal [Coniferous with some deciduous trees] rain forest and then a journey east with a few stops en-route.
American Mink seen en-route to walk was a highlight as was good views of lifers; Varied and Swainson's Thrushes, Golden crowned Kinglet and Fox Sparrow. The beach allowed great views of a large flock of very confiding Sanderlings, many in good breeding colour plus a few Dunlin, also decked in breeding finery. An osprey made a brief appearance also.
Heading west we got great views of Red breasted Sapsuckers - a type of woodpecker.
An exhausting day with much vehicle time [our vehicle btw is a 15 seater Chevrolet van / bus type of thing.]
