9-30pm - we've just finished our evening meal and have had a long and fruitful day which began at 5am!!

Birding began at Observatory road, just north of Victoria. What a fantastic spot! Bushtit, Dark eyed Junco, California Quail, American Robin, Orange crowned Warbler before we got through the gate. Hummingbird feeders yielded stunning views of Anna's and Rufous Hummers. Heaps of warblers plus great views of Western Tanager, red-breasted nuthatch etc. Too much to describe and suffice to say would gladly 'do it all again' tomorrow. Big thanks to local birder, Ed Pellizzon, for his enthusiasm in showing us his patch.

The local birding network again kicked in and we were notified of a twichable Great Horned Owl which we promptly twitched.

And then to breakfast at Denny's. Who new breakfast could have so many options?
Fried, Poached, Scrambled, Omeleete, Boiled.....
uh, fried.
Sunnyside up, over easy, over easy medium soft, Over hard, - you get the idea.

After a huge brunch - we 'coasted it' looking for more birds and found a very rare Glaucus Gull plus Oystercatches, Pigeon Guillemots etc etc. Finally got very good views of the beautiful Harlequin ducks before th e'bird' of the day - Otter!! Good views of this generally shy mammal.

Quote of the day; Norma [Hambling] - "Move your bottom Ray, so i can get the stool out."

I think that does not need explaining however .............

Tommorrow to Tofino..
