Well today was what I would call the drive bys! Mubina had told us that we needed to go to Ruwi to the souks there. Anita and I got off, found our way to this place and looked for the souk. Well, this wasn't a souk like we were thinking. This was an area of Indian shops that weren't in a covered area but streets of shops. We looked around a little bit and then decided that this was not a shopping area for us! I was worn out from bargaining or trying to get a better price. We drove back to the hotel and decided that we would get our knitting, computer and such and go back to the Mall.
This time parking was much easier and less congested than the night before. Yikes! This time we entered by the Borders bookstore and found not much open yet but the bookstore was!!! There was free internet here so I was able to work on my blog that was sadly lacking in updates, look at American magazines, and find books!!!! I had already bought 4 books the night before so I didn't allow myself to go home with more even though I really wanted to. :-) I did read some cookbooks and found a few recipes that I copied down to try when I get back to Amman.
By the middle of the afternoon, we were hungry and went to Noodles for some food. It's not like our Noodles at home but it has some good Asian food and we knew what it was as it's in Amman. Lunch was good and now it was time to head back and back. On the way back, we stopped at this store called LuLu's Hypermarket that we had been driving by. It was a hoot! I can only compare it to a walmart on steroids with lots of everything. There were jewelery stores, clothing, shoes, electronics, house goods, and then there was the grocery store on the main floor. Prices for general food items were a lot cheaper than Amman and the variety was amazing! I had fun shopping for some Indian spices that I hadn't found here, almond meal so I can make my own marzipan, banana chips and some other goodies. My main thought was "is there room in the suitcase"?
Well, we got packed up as we had to be up at 3:00am and leave by 4:00am for the airport to end our vacation. A good time was had but am ready to head back to my own bed.
See you back in Amman!
