Hola!

Sorry I not written in a long time! Time flies when you are having fun, right?

Well since I last wrote I visited sevilla... or Seville for those of you who donīt speak spanish :) We visited the Alcazar which is their big palace there and it was a very cool palace. Our tour guide was a hoooooot! When he got on the bus the next day he told us I am (not remembering his name) the same as yesterday only today I am wearing yellow! As I said he was hilarious. The palace was not nearly as cool as the Alhambra here in Granada but had many of the same arcitectural components (such as ornate mosaics and such). We saw I believe three weddings while we were visiting that area.

That afternoon, after lunch, which was quite an experience as we were given wine with lunch and some of the individuals in the group... drank very liberally... and basically furthered the stereotype of "stupid americans," but yes afterwards we had free time.

Lacey and I went to the Cathedral which was basically a cathedral... a huge gothic church with lots of altars and paintings and such... Though we did see Christopher Columbusīīs tomb and one of the statues that was on our Barroc art test :) We also climbed the tower at the Giralda (The name of the cathedral becasue it has a wind vane on top... I think that is whta it is called in english... the thing that spins to tell you what direction the wind is comign from?) But yes the tower was originally for a mosque, like all the cathedrals they were built on top of the most important mosque in town to show christian dominance... but yes so the caller person had to climb this huge tower 5 times a day to call the people to prayer so instead of stairs there are ramps all the way up because he would ride either a donkey or horse or something up to the top and then only had to climb the final flight of stairs. It was very cool!

I also went to the Fine Arts museum in Seville and saw a lot of the art work we are talking about in my art class. It was fun but my cellphone decided to fritz out so I had a minor panic moment thinking I had no way to call lacey and her sis to figure out where we were meeting and of course I had no ones phone number except in my cell... after smacking it a round a bit it started working again :) But yes we went and ate which was a dismal experience... as they usually are for a non meat eating, non onion eatign person in spain.

The next day we visited some ancient roman ruins just outside seville which were very cool and had some very impressive mosaics including one with all the days of the week... or the gods that the names come from. The actually colosium part was not nearly as impressive as in rome but the tour guide made it funa nyway. We also had the tour guide in our bus with us so he gave us a play by play as we drove. Oh and we saw a protest :) Which was cool it was for equal custody rights between men and women because right now in Spain many times the father will lose custody for no good reason if the parents get divorced.

We also took a boat ride up and down the river which was cool but wasnīt any new information and you couldnīt really see much of anything from the boat. Though you did hear about everything in at least7 languages :) We ended our time in Seville at the Plaza de Espaņa which is this huge plaza where each region of spain is represented by a ceramic painted type pictures representing something special about the region, of course Granadaīs was the surrendering of the Muslims to the Christians. Ya está. That is my trip to Seville!
