The restaurant was packed and the meal was good if a little too rich.We had the traditional Spanish ham as an appetiser with a glass of Cava. A very rich goose liver pate followed by a very nice chestnut soup laced with Carlos V brandy. Then a lemon sorbet to refresh our palette before the fish course of Monkfish and rissotto then the main course of Veal with mushrooms and a rather heavy port wine sauce. The dessert was a Grand Marnier souffle, then coffee and brandy all washed down with a bottle of Chardonnay and a bottle of good Rioja. In all too much and too rich but we're not really complaining after the Christmas Day disaster it was quite a treat to have food cooked by a real chef!.
The music was disco and we managed to get a couple of waltzes in before the clock struck 12 and we ate the traditional 12 grapes on each chime of the clock....bizarre but meant to bring us health wealth and happiness...yeah sure it will.........!
New Year's Day brought clouds and even rain till around 2 o'clock then the sun came out to cheer us up. I had my Spanish lesson with the lovely Javier so was able to say a few words in the restaurant when ordering lunch without sounding too British. We had a light lunch out and went back to enjoy a bottle of bubbly on the terrace in sunshine, altogether a relaxing day.
