Portugal: Christmas is here!
1800 miles and we're here!! What a relief, although roads have been clear and driving quite easy despite fog and rain, we are glad to be here and know we don't have to drive any great distances again until the end of Feburary. We are taking a more leisurely route home taking six days instead of five and already have decided to make it more part of the holiday to explore along the way so it's not such a chore.
We had a lovely welcome from the stewards when we arrived and because we are a week early for the rally we were able to choose our spot to set up camp at our leisure.
Everyone has their Christmas decorations up adorning local trees with Christmas lights and tinsel and there's even blow up snowmen's 17degrees here in the daytime. Lovely! We came equipped modestly with one ropestring of outdoor lights and one string for inside the camper, we are sorely tempted to go out and find more.....lots show we are in the Christmas spirit...all in the best possible taste of course. We have an olive tree on our pitch so that will be our Christmas tree. Perfect!
Meeting lots of people who are seasoned rally eventers, so we are getting lots of tips of where, what, when, and how to do it!! We are most impressed with the site, excellent facilities, a lovely bar/restaurant, swimming pool and special club room for rally members. We're still not sure exactly what to expect but are looking forward to lots of fun and games!!!!!!!!!! We've booked our Christmas lunch and festivities to follow.
