Monday the sky was Payne's grey all day and we decided to do nothing! Well that is go anywhere but stay and prepare for the next move. Colin did most of the work while I made a lavender cushion from the dried lavender bunches we bought on the road. The camper now smells very sweet.

We moved the next day to Les Abrets nearly came a cropper from a surprise 2.6m height restriction on the main N85 we are 2.7m so decided not to crash our way through and lose the satellite dish but turn around and take a 30km detour!! But at least the campervan is still in tact and Colin now knows the height of the campervan to the nearest millimetre.

We were delighted with our new campsite, tucked away in rolling hills much like the Lake District. We have a beautiful heated swimming pool and a good sized pitch close to the bar.

We went for a tour around today and saw a fabulous small chateau called Chateau de Longpra unfortunately not open to the public today but extremely well preserved in beautiful natural surroundings; its claim to fame being the estate of the Clermonts and Paladrus until 1536. Nearby is the Lake Paladru and also the Lake d’Aiguebelette which is the 3rd largest natural lake in France and the clearest and warmest lake in Europe. We refrained from taking a dip though instead took a glass of wine and sat and enjoyed the view.

Back for a swim in our own clear and warm waters of the pool and sunbathed all afternoon. Incredible to think that two days ago we were shivering as the temperature seemed to have dropped at least 15 degrees and there was fresh snow on the mountain tops as we drove from Grenoble.
