The next day was damp and misty but as we intended visiting Grenoble anyway today it was a perfect day for museums and art galleries. We started with a tour of the old town in the rain and then warmed up with lunch in the square before going to the art gallery, checking out a few Renoirs, Sisley, Pissarro and Monet's and some nice sculptures by Georgette Aguette who I confess I’ve never heard of. As the sky was beginning to clear we went on the Telepherique, little cable car style pods that went up across the river right up to the fort at the top of the hill. Fort de la Bastille, quite stunning; from there we could see all across the city and we were above the clouds still hovering round the mountain tops. Fantastic.
So the day turned out well and we came home to a gorgeous Beef Bourguignon that I had put in the slow cooker before we went out helped down with a few glasses of Cote du Rhone I’d say it was a marvellous day despite the weather.
