Not far from Grenoble but still in the mountains of the Haute Alpes, we have found a lovely little site where we have cosily set up camp with our own little walled garden and apple tree, no need to go scrumping as the apples fall from the tree straight into our laps as we sit beneath it!!
From here we will be able to visit Chateau de Vizille, take a train a La Mure, take a boat on the River Drec, go walking in the hills across Himalayan bridges, visit the Sanctuarie de la Salette, taste the liqueurs of Chartreuse , swim in the River Drome and visit the French Resistance Museum.   So much to do and so little time to do it all!  But we will try our best to do most if not all of these things.   The weather is cooler here but that is better for walking and sight seeing and there is still a radiant blue sky so we are hoping it won't be rain that drives us to the museums and art galleries but choice.

Local produce includes that lovely cheese St Marcellin, many goat cheeses from local farms and lovely fruit wines and liqueurs, we shall enjoy shopping in the local markets and will be looking for the unusual today.
One of the first things we see is 'chat noir'!  Chat noir has become a symbol of good luck to us as wherever we go we see 'chat noir'  In Cornwall, Ireland, France, Luxembourg, Portugal, even New Zealand it's extraordinary it's like my precious Rudi come to haunt me but in a nice protective way.
