Where I stayed
La Forge Sainte Marie
A clear run from Dunkerque after losing our way from the port! My fault, as the navigator, I was reading the AA instructions from the port when they were from the town!!! So a slight detour there along some lovely rural roads, very enchanting!!.
Next as we eventually find the correct toll road we have 'Fun at the toll road booth' experience, the first young man, very charming, very French, charged us for the Smart car as well as the campervan even though we protested it is the same as a car and caravan only in reverse!!!! Well isn't it????? Next toll: nice older Frenchman, as Colin gets his money out, the wind takes it off down the road, unable to open the door more than 3 inches to get out and retrieve it, Colin is about to pass over another 10Euros for the 5.40euro charge when the lovely little charming Frenchman leaps out of his little box and chases the ten Euros down the toll road retrieving it to our applause thus saving Colin 10 Euros....I love the French!!!!!
Arrive at Forge St Marie 300 miles later having passed through a few very lively villages; Poisson had a band playing in the square and a Sunday market, quite a festive affair but we couldn't stop not with a campervan in those lovely winding streets only wide enough for two Smart cars!!! The site is lovely and quiet but we can see the attraction in high season as it has a swimming pool under cover, horse riding, archery, forest walks, fishing, etc; etc; etc activities for younger people. A great venue for a family re-union as there were gites, chalets, spaces for caravans, motor homes and tents, so all members of a large family could go there at what ever level of
comfort they desire. And only 300 miles from the nearest port!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
