Where I stayed
Day 3 Today we moved on driving through the mountains to WarmWaterberg HotSprings. We stopped at Ronnies sex shop a must for all travellers the beer is great after a long drive but you might be asked to leave your underwear behind!!!!! We had a lovely soak in the hot springs then a great meal out and an early night. We woke abruptly to the sound of thumping on the roof to find a peacock strutting his stuff displaying his feathers to several peahens. This kept us entertained through breakfast before moving on to Sedgefield and Sue and Steve's home.
We enjoyed our first night at Stellenbosch camp and today we drove to Simon Town which was the South Atlantic base for the Royal Navy until 1957. It is now the base for the South African Navy and has a modern marina. We had a superb fish lunch at Bertha's on the waterfront and then on to Boulders which has a thriving colony of African penguins and magnificent white sandy beaches. From just two breeding pairs in 1992 the colony has grown to about 3,000 in recent years, these penguins are about two feet high and look very cuddly but are protected from contact with humans.Shame!... we wanted to do a tap dance with them!!!!!! They were so adorable it was like Happy \feet without the music. From Boulders we drove back to the campsite collecting several bottles of wine at the local wine hostelry for an evening wine tasting and another Braai of chicken and pork steaks.
