Well hello everyone, time is winding down for Matt and I here on the Continent and we are winding down a bit too....we are tired little Canadians! We suffered massive heat issues in Barcelona but managed to visit the Santa Familia and a few of the other crazy architectural wonders of the city...but mostly we stuck by our base in Mataro, Spain. "Our" beach was amazing and compared to the beach in Barcelona, fantastic! No crowds, crystal clear water and sandy clean beaches! Although colourful fishes in the water still make me uneasy...
The campsite was great, but there were a lot more issues with the language than in France. A LOT MORE! Matt has been eating Paella by the pan full and I have tried it although I cant get past all those sea creatures staring at me. Everything is SO cheap, compared to France and North America, and they sell Cubans here which Matt is close to joyful tears about. I wish we had more time for Spain, but sadly we did move on..

Ah, the French Riveria!

TO CANNES, FRANCE..which is where we are right now. We decided to skip Nice, where EVERYONE goes including two Edmontoners we met on the train..Cannes is about 1/2 an hour west of Nice and it where the International Film Festival takes place in May. We have seen the "strip" where all the stars stroll and went to the beach today and window shopped. We opted for a room because camping was in the boonies and too far away from the beach and the hotel messed up so we got an even better deal for the same price! We might stay another night since its ridiculous here and we are enjoying it a lot. Although we have to get to Italy soon as the countdown is on...so we'll see...
Feels pretty weird to stroll the strip of Dior, Christian Lacroix, D&G, and all the others! Hell, we even had some paparazzi dude with a mullet take our picture on the beach today probably because he heard us speaking English and were wearing sunglasses and hats ...guess he thought we were somebodies....lol, jokes on him! Anyway, we're enjoying this weather, this whole scene and feel constanly like we can't believe its happening. We know about the heat wave in Canada too, so we hope everyone is keeping cool in the pool or the cottage or wherever!
