Bonjour from the champagne capital of the world, if its not made here, its not champagne - to quote Matt since we arrived yesterday. We are camping at the municipal grounds in Epernay, France after a train from Luxembourg through Metz and Nancy. Today we did a tour of Moet and Chandon (Matt was so excited I thought he was going to cry, but then again so was I)...they have 28km of cellars under the avenue that Churchill once described as the "tastiest avenue in the world". Pol Roger, Perrier-Jouet, Mercier are just a few other names on this street. Veuve is from Reims so not in Epernay.
Our campsite is directly in Epernay so we have a ridiculous view of the vineyards right along the Marne river, they actually encircle us, and were a great place to watch fireworks last night as the country celebrated Bastille Day (cant believe you knew that on the phone dad! good work)
We just came here to the internet kiosk after a free tasting at the tourist information center of two small local producers too
We ate a very nice dinner last night in town, so tonight its back to "sam-ichs" and liquid drinkable strawberry yogurt (which is actually amazing)...no compliants!
The weather is still so hot we swear that its follwing us and we also keep finding Australians everywhere! We have a lot in common with them, more than many people would expect I think.
Everything is fantastic although we are without the ability to put up pictures still, so apologies until later!
Oh and please everyone leave messages on the travelpod or e-mail us, we get so excited when you do!
Tomorrow we are off to the North to find Bruay Cemetary where my relative lies from WWI near Bethune..........then Paris!
So glad to be back in France! And I "think" Matt likes it a bit here too..
Love Kaylea and Matt

Me and Moet!
. The town and area is very beautiful, but to the direct south (Lorraine) is mostly sporadic farming of dairy cattle and cash crops. We ate a very nice dinner last night in town, so tonight its back to "sam-ichs" and liquid drinkable strawberry yogurt (which is actually amazing)...no compliants!
