Bonjour! I can finally understand what people are saying! That was my big revelation as sson as we bordered the train Thalys to Paris Nord, with our stop being Brussels. I was able to properly kick people out of our reserved seats....and had a good conversation with a Parisian studying in Dortmund that actually admitted his people (those French) have made many historical mistakes....he brought up the Maginot Line and de Gaulle, not me.
The trip was a nice one, through Aachen and Liege to Brussels. We arrived around 7pm and walked the immediate surroundings, which include the Grand Place. We ate the best dinner we've had in about a week (a break from ham and cheese sandwhichs) and actually hit bed early...but only after buying some Belgian chocolates that I like even better than I like Matt. lol. We talked to the chocolatier for about 20min and he loved us and gave us much more than we paid for, especially two of his "Canadian" blends A room with a view! BRUSSELS
A room with a view! BRUSSELS
. We have never met a business man that LOVED his business SO MUCH.
Today, we went to two Catholic cathedrals and heard a bit of mass (it being Sunday) in one called St. Michael and Guglac with foundations dating from 900AD. We visited a park dedicated to those who suffered under Spanish oppression in the 16th century...went to the Belgium Brewers Museum and had a pint, saw Manneqin Pis, ate a pita like you told us to Euro, and the royal palace and the gardens. Tonight is the World Cup final and they are showing in the Grand Place...so I guess that is what we will be up to. Hopefully we can get a seat there for dinner, so with that being said we're off! Love, Kaylea and Matt
P.S. Pictures soon!

World Cup
Hey guys,

Toronto was crazy last night with Italy winning the world cup - there was thousands of Italians celebrating in the streets - I felt really bad for the french, but they took it really well. My husband to be was pretty excited as you can imagine, so I am faking my happiness also ; )

Your site is awesome and your pics are great - I'm really enjoying it.

Take care,
Cheers,
Louise.
