Hallo luitjes! (Hi people) We are at Olga's apartment in Groningen where she goes to university today. Yesterday we were in Rotterdam and then up to The Hague which is the bureaucratic center of the Netherlands. We went up the Euromast in Rotterdam to a height of 185m, and there were people zipline-ing off of it! I tried to get Matt to jump, but he wouldn't. (not that I did either)...we saw the Swan Bridge and the Maritime Museum as well. We have also noticed a surprsing amount of "mullets" here too,...so maybe I will go back to that haircut....Anyway, we went up to The Hague and saw the amazing Parliament buildings with some buildings dating from around the 13th century and the Queens'Building. It was pretty quiet in The Hague because it was Sunday so we went to a trendy cafe and had apple pie and whip cream. It was SWEET!
Soccer craziness has dimmed down today because last night the Netherlands were put out 1-0 by Portugal in the most soap-opera like game I have ever seen! DRAMA,....these guys were faking injuries, getting red and yellow cards left right and center, you name it. We decided to also go north-east instead of west today, so instead of Belgium we're going into Germany tomorrow, then up to Roskilde for the show. We're probably going to stay in Hamburg camping and plan to hit Lubeck before going into Denmark.
On the recreation front, Matt has been sampling a lot of Heineken and he had a Jupiler too Euro! Olgas brother gave him "hell" for having a Belgian beer in the Netherlands (lol). Other than the mullets, I have enjoyed some awesome wine, and rose is pretty popular here actually. its the standard drink along with a black currant soda called Cassis. Coffee here is espresso and that is hardcore, so we've had lots of cappuccinos. Matt has also passed up a chance to pee in an open urinal that goes above and below ground depending on the day of the week, but he promises to do it before he leaves! We had dinner tonight at a Mexican restaurant with Olga and her boyfriend Tonio and walked the streets of Groningen past a lot of $$$ homes and massive churches. Perfect.
Anyway, so much more - but we don't want to over do it with all of you! Talk to everyone from Germany! ~Kaylea and Matt More thumbnails ...
