Our first impression of the Icefield Parkway was rather mixed. This 230 km road combines the National Parks of Banff and Jasper. Although we could feel the incredible panorama hiding behind the rainy clouds, we spent the day escaping the cold weather by heading up North to Jasper in one day. As expected the next day presented the Jasper National Park in a whole new light. Thanks to the previous cold days the mountains were covered with a white snow-top. Indian Summer welcomed us with an amazing scenery. We made our way to the Maligne lake, had a first enounter with a moose and Karin even spotted a well camouflaged bird!

Due to the better weather forecast we decided to drive the Icefield Parkway again the next day. We set off early and made our way back to Lake Louise. Over a whole day we visited all the highlights of the Icefield Parkway and enjoyed this landscape with an overwhelming mountain scenery, ice-blue lakes, flowery meadows and dozens of glaciers.
