Baxter, MN to Home
Day 20,
July 21, 2008
Baxter, MN to Home, Laurium, MI
Well, its about 24 hours since we got home, I have been to work already today and before I even made it to bed last night I had mowed the yard, been to the kennel to get the dogs, bathed the dogs and picked up my truck from the shop. Whew, all in 3 hours. Today after getting to be about 11:30 and up at 4:30 went to work and when I got home had to lay down for 2 hours to catch a nap. Exhaustion was taking its toll. Once up at 2:30 out to the garden to deal with the bushes, weeds and tall grass that had invaded it to make it look somewhat better. That finally being done about 4:00 the yard work is fairly well caught up, which leads me to the inside of putting laundry away, cleaning, unpacking, giving the little dog a haircut. All that being said and done now I can actually sit down, check my email, read emails, burn pictures to CD's and check out my mail. Whew. Well, they don't say "You Play, You Pay" for anything. It is all true but hey, its worth the memories and seeing the world right? In my book it is. Thats why I try to put stuff in order before I leave. Thus, my version "You Pay, SO you CAN Play, and then you Pay some more." So back to work again tomorrow and we will see what is left to be done there. But I have a really good feeling about the person who I trained in to cover for me. I truly do think that she did a good job and that there won't be all that much that I have to go back to deal with it will be some stuff that is sitting in my work email and eventually just getting back into the swing of things.
Well, I gave out the Ulu Knives I got for some of my friends today, from what I can tell I know 2 of the people really liked them, the other 1 I really didn't get a feel on it. I did get a ball cap for another friend, and of course spoiled the niece and nephew rotten with t-shirts, activity books, inflatable Alaska Marine Highway System ferry boats, and they each got a stuffed sled dog and berry wearing a fleece. The kids are sooo cool. It seems like the other day they were just crawling around on the floor and now they are up running around playing ball, beating me at video games and just being cool.
So anyway, back to the last day of travel, we picked up 2 geocaches and just decided to start trying to do the fly home. We ate lunch at Gronks Grill in Superior Wisconsin. We still haven't adjusted to the correct time zone yet. When we were in Central time zone we were functioning on Pacific time zone now that we are in Eastern well I am still somewhat in Mountain or Pacific, can't wake up in the morning and can't go to sleep at a normal time. UGH. Hence, the last morning of our vacation with everyone rolling out of bed around 9:00 CST, ooops. That would be 6 Alaska, 7 Pacific, 8 Mountain and 10 Eastern. Huh, it took 3 days after we were in Alaska on Alaska Time Zone to convert, think it might take that long to switch back. So basically, we have jet lag to an extent, we did nothing really exciting the last day and we are all running around cleaning, unpacking, returning to work, and walking around in a daze. Dammmm, it was worth it though!!!!!
