Vacation Day 4
7/5/08
Edmonton, AB to Grand Prairie, AB

We started the morning out early again, seems we have been totally caught in the midst of EDT. This business of getting up at 4 and 5 am MST is ridiculous. But any way we were off and running early. We high tailed it out of Edmonton as fast we could and we survived.

We ended up having breakfast at Tim Horton's again. Not a bad breakfast and especially not a bad cup of Java. We finished out the drive on the Yellowhead and picked up the Moose Alley, also known as Alberta 43 to Grand Prairie. During the course of this trip we picked up some geocaches and kept our eyes pealed for moose. Stopped at a rest area with a scenic overlook outside of Valley-view and found a cache there before proceeding to Grand Prairie Bison- aka. Buffalo

.

Never did see any moose, although we see them relatively frequently at home but we did see some bison and black tailed deer.

This day has seemed to be a day with some kind of little cloud following us. Mom fell in the woods hitting her neck (nothing major), scraped her shin, slid down a hill on her back side (all presumably from probably looking at her GPS and not paying attention to where she was going), and got a little banged up on the water-slide at our hotel tonight and well, I wiped out in the parking lot (it was raining, I have my justifications), the shower, the hot tub and well its just been interesting with all the bruises, lumps and bumps and sore muscles. Truthfully, I think we are all getting a little bit on the tired side and not really focusing much, thus the injuries, black eyes, bruises, swollen joints, bumps, and bug bites.

The weather today started out really decent but by the time we made it to the hotel and decided to wind down in the jacuzzi and pool it had started to rain and storm. Temps yesterday were in the 90's but today was a different story with the temp hanging at about 70. Tomorrow is supposed to 60-70 and rain Mom and Dad with the Geocache

. Looks to be that pretty much the expected will occur as we are here in the rainy season and as the saying goes, "In Ketchikan, it either just got done raining, it is raining or its getting ready to rain." So that seems to be what we are expecting.

We decided to head out to eat at Tony Roma's BBQ, steak and seafood restaurant, and spend some time getting laundry, relaxing and hanging around today as we cut the days short since we don't have to do the long haul we thought we were going to be doing when we had Denali planned.

Tomorrows plan consist of driving to Dawson Creek, BC, mile marker 0 for the Alaska highway and checking out some caches, museums, and exploring. Basically, doing the stuff we didn't get to do the first time we drove through here in 2001.
