Day 1 Laurium, MI to Grand Rapids, MN

Well, the notes for this day will probably prove to be the most unexciting and boring blog for the trip. As planned we left home after everyone got home from work, which would consist of mom. I was off after noon today and quite truthfully that was the most relaxed feeling I had had in a while. I spent a little time doing the frenzied scurry around to get the dogs to the kennel, the truck to the body shop after our little incident yesterday in the drive way and get the last of the packing done. We only made one return trip to the house to pick up a fuse for the Sirius radio that was left behind and before we even made to Hancock realized the blowers for the back set of seats in the van were not working, so in all infinite wisdom we checked the fuses and found the fuses were not the problem. So we are making due the best we can and got a fan to clip on the console and a power converter. Well what else would you expect from the White's version of the National Lampoons. We have already had the fuel filter and coils and spark plugs changed on Monday due to the van not working right, dad having the heart attack 3 weeks prior to this, as with the fender benders in the drive way, the knee doing its thing, so well lets hope from this point that the trip goes well. I can't say that anything exciting has happened, we are making great time, to boot with the parentals as some of you may know, we make frequent pit stops, not this time, ha, ha, lots of good ground coverage. So any way can't report much activity other than that of messing around with the Sirius radio, sleeping and reading occurring. So here is the first boring day and god willing the last boring day.
Not that I am being ungrateful as some might think, and you know who you are. Its just this is the way our vacations usually go and well its kind of just old hat for us, like the flat tire in Washington state in 2001 with the famous words of "Hey, mom there is smoke pouring out from under the camper" as the tire was blowing out and the jack on the camper had dropped and sparked away and eventually stopping on the side of the interstate changing the tire in 103 degree weather or the flat tire on the van in Harts butte, Montana in free range cattle land, and of course the flat tire on the van in the Hoh Rain forest in Olympic National Park at 10pm at night in the rain. What else would you expect in a rain forest. So laugh if you want, we are, in fact we are already laughing and cracking jokes at each others expense which is just fun being sassy and hanging loose. God knows we earned it. They say " You play, you pay" That is not the true saying it should be "You pay, so you can play and then you pay again." Dawn's little bit of philosophy.
Tomorrow we cross in to Canada, and will be being very unpatriotic by celebrating the 4th of July in Edmonton Alberta. So tomorrow we will be staying in Yorkton, Saskatchewan and the following day in Edmonton. See you the next time we are wireless on-line.
