Yesterday was a day of perfection. We went toward the basically abandoned beach at Playa Zapotal that Sonny had found the other day. Driving through rivers over incredible rocky and washboard type roads and then............there was a family of howler monkeys. Oh my goodness from oldters to babies. RIGHT THERE. Then in the tree we saw what I thought was a 3 toed sloth but turned out to be something called a Tamarandua (or something like that) Amazing. And then Sonny saw a lizard that runs on two legs, I was busy looking for more monkeys.

We then spent a delightful afternoon on the beach with only a few other people (It was Saturday afterall) Lovely, warm water.........well, lovely except for the little stinging jelly fish. Not really painful or long lasting just little stingers. People here seem to get use to them. We are being careful to use sun block as the sun is very very strong here. So we kept climbing into the shade, but around here there is cactus on the beach so one must be careful where you sit. We spent quite a while watching little sand crabs dart along the beach and timy periwinkles open and shut with the waves. It was totally idyllic.

After washing off at our villa and resting for a bit, we went to a local tico restaurant (soda bar as they are called) and spent less than any of our other meals and had THE BEST FOOD YET. The waiter (Estaben) was good with us. He spoke Spanish to me and English to Sonny. We went there for breakfast before heading out for Playa Samara today.

Now we are on our way, quickly stopping to check email and see if there is any word about Sonny''s new building at work. Not sure of email further south but I believe we will write more soon.

Hasta Luaga
