From Ko Samui we took a boat to Ko Pha Ngan. Pha Ngan is famous for it's full moon parties, where people come from all around the world. Fortunately, or unfortunately(?), there was no full moon when we were there, thus no party. We thought about taking a one day diving there, but since there had been so much rain lately and the visibility in the water was not very good, we decided to wait. We didn't do very much at Pha Ngan, but we stayed at a really nice hotel with a swimming pool. We also had a little sunshine(!) so we got to sunbathe by the pool. The hotel also had a massage service, which we took advantage of:) After two days of relaxing, we took a speedboat to Ko Tao- a boat ride we will never forget.

First of all the boat was one hour late. When we got on the boat, it seemed like the captain wanted to make up for the lost time. The boat ride was like being on a carousel, really funny at first, but afte 5- 10 minutes you start feeling pretty sick. Felt like we spent more time flying through the air, than floating in the water. Everybody was laughing and having a good time at first, but after a while no one laughed and everybody started puking. We are not exaggerating when saying that about 2/3 of the passengers threw up. The crew was running around with puke bags and napkins. We used tiger balm under our noses so that we wouldn't sence the smell of all the puke. Felt like the longest 2 hours ever, but we managed it without leaving our breakfast with the crew.

When we were waiting for the boat at Pha Ngan, we met a guy from a hotel at Ko Tao. He suggested that we should come and see the hotel, and decide if we wanted to stay there. The free taxi persuaded Kaupo.. This was a Diving Resort, and if we wanted to go for a one day dive, we got cheaper accomodation. We decided to do the diving the next day. The day started out with theory about diving. Our instructor was norwegian, so it was easy to understand everything. We were lucky enough to be the only norwegians there, so we had one instructor all to our selves. After the theory, there was a small "test" to see if we had understood the information given. Before getting into the sea, we had to sign a form, basicly saying that we would be lucky if we got through this whole experience without any injuries, permanent damage to the lungs, or death due to equipment failure(!) Renate got a little sceptical after "too much" information, but Kaupo was more exited than ever:) We started near the beach, getting to know the diving equipment, and doing some exercises in the water that we had to master before going diving. At first Renate panicked, feeling suffacated. And then, we went diving... Luckily, the dive went perfect. We had a really nice experience, seeing corals and fish in all kind of shapes and colours. After that day we have became more and more sure that we want to do the Open Water PADI sertification.

When the dive was finnished, the sky opened up and the rain started pooring down. We went to a restaurant to eat lunch, and while we were sitting there the streets were flooding:O It happened so fast, we have never seen it raining this bad. When we were finished eating the water in the street were up to 1 meter deep. Crazy! (Look at the pictures)

On Ko Tao many street vendors sold pancakes. There were all kinds of pancakes; "banana and strawberry", "apple, cinnamon and honey", "sausage, cheese and onion", "banana and chocolate" and so on. They were the best pancakes we have ever tried, and the pancake man had a pretty impressing way of making them. You can even see one Pancake man on YouTube (search for Pancake man Ko Tao).
