To add to our list of Biblical locations, we are now staying in the tourist town of Moab (one of Lot's sons). Moab is conveniently located between Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. More red rock to keep Dad happy.

Arches National Park has over 2,000 natural stone arches, from a tiny 1 metre to massive Landscape Arch which is over 90 metres wide - there are lots and lots of them. To add to the geological bounty are fins, spires, monoliths, balanced rocks, rocks that look like they are about to topple, rocks that really are about to topple and ones that have well and truly hit the dust.

Some of the rocks have great names - Courthouse Towers, Park Avenue, Elephant Butte, Ham Rock and naturally some Biblical names -Tower of Babel, Garden of Eden, Fiery Furnace and the Devils Garden. Use your imagination, these places are completely different. The arches have more predictable names like North Window, Navajo Arch and Double Arch. The most popular is Delicate Arch, which is the State symbol of Utah. And no, we didn't go to the Golden Arches for dinner, we had Mexican food instead.

Yesterday we took a break from walking and rafted down the Colorado River instead amidst the wonderful scenery of Fisher Towers and the Professor Valley. In fact, it has been used as the backdrop to a number of movies. We all got wet at least a little bit, but were none the worse for wear.

The kids had so much energy left that they hired a banana bike each from the RV Park.

Today it was Canyonlands National Park. We visited the Island in the Sky, a plateau with a view of canyons where the Colorado and Green Rivers join. Now the kids are all canyoned out - not ABC! (Another Beautiful Canyon)
