Today saw us heading back into Austria in the morning to go White Water Rafting! Austria ROCKS! The scenery is soooo nice. Anyway, after getting dressed in our dorky outfits (full wetsuit, booties, lifejacket, & helmet), we went over the safety rules, then divided into three rafts, about 10 people per raft, and carried them down to the water. We all had to walk into the extremely cold water to get used to it, DAMN cold considering how hot it was out of the water! Our instructor told us the water was a 'refreshing' 6°C! We cruised down the river for a while, hit some small rapids and then had to practice pulling people back into the boat if (when) they fall out, which meant we had to jump in. Our guy was a real cheeky shit and kept pushing us in and tipping us out so we could 'practice' hauling in our raft-mates!! It was freezing, but fun. We went through a few more rapids, then our guide told us to stand up and practice our balancing on the side of the raft, which saw a everyone falling, being pushed or jumping into the water. We went through some more rapids then came to a calm spot and were told to dive/fall/push people into the water. It was lots of fun! The rapid course we did was a Class 3, not too scary, just the way I like it!
We then went to Hopfgarten where we were scheduled to hire mountain bikes for the afternoon. Candis (another cool chick from Brissy who is also staying on in London) and I felt so sick with our colds that we passed on the ride. We could barely breathe doing nothing, let alone riding, so we went on a cable car up a mountain to check out the awesome views, then killed a few hours over lunch instead. The rest of the group rode to a Trout Farm and paid €6.50 to catch and kill their own lunch. We re-grouped just in time for Benny Bus to get us to the Hotel Bar in time to watch the World Cup (Australia vs Italy). Everyone probably knows how that game ended, there were a lot of unhappy people that day. That was the first Soccer game I have ever watched from start to finish, I even learnt some of the rules! A very proud moment
That night there was a 'White Party' on at the Hotel Bar for our tour group. Everyone was told to wear something white because they heaps of UV lights, so we glowed. So we all had some drinks and a boogie. Had some 'Sperm' shots that tasted like cowboys (YUM!), in a tube the shape of...well, giant sperm!
