Where I stayed
I wake up at about 9am which is late for me but the girls are still sleeping.... I've forgotten what its like to be aware of what your doing!! I have a couple of coffees and a shower before catching up on my blog.
I also make use of the time and decide where to go next on my travels and also where I have to be next. Shelley is flying out to Thailand and so I look at flights there but also anywhere else before hand as I have time.... I've said it before but I've fallen in love with Singapore and have now extended my stay 4 times.... there really is so much to see and do and although I could quite easily just stay here I know I have to make arrangements to move on
So... I could fly straight to Bangkok and meet Shelley, the flight is reasonable... I could travel by coach or train but would rather make better use of the time. The flights are cheap and take no time at all and as I search away I happen to come across free flights... yes free! Not a word you hear often! So I've booked my free flight where I am just paying tax... this costs under £8 for a flight... BARGAIN!!!
I then book my flight to Bangkok which is just as cheap so happy days... I just need to find accommodation but after a brief look there seems to be lots to choose from. Travel arrangements take forever but at least its sorted... well the next few weeks anyway. After that I'm trying to visit another country which wasn't on my original agenda.. so fingers crossed that comes into fruition.
Tonight I am meeting James, a familiar face from my old work days who just so happens to be here on business and timed perfectly for the Grand Prix... jammy so and so!!
We meet at Clarke Quay is a historical riverside quay and a refurbished riverside development of old warehouses – consists almost exclusively of bars and restaurants
We meet at 8pm at a place called the "crazy elephant" Southeast Asia's Premier Blues Bar for the true blue Blues fan.You enter it's timber decor ,graffiti and raw stage, and come face to face with live blues and rock & roll the way its meant to be. If you fancy heading onstage and rocking out? You can jam with the best on some nights of the week! Many international rock and blues legends have came in for performances, jam sessions or just to enjoy a casual drink with friends. Eric Burdon and the Animals, Rick Derringer, Savoy Brown, Graham Neil, Deep Purple, R.E.M, Manfred Man's Paul Jones, Robbie Williams and Ronan Keating, are just some of the stars who've graced the bar or the stage here.
If you like beer,(who doesn't!) raucous live music and huge servings of greasy American food such as burgers and lamb chops (no, me neither!), then it’s a wonder you haven’t found this joint. Bumpin’ on a weekend night, the place is packed to its wooden rafters with folks looking for a grand ol’ time. The laidback atmosphere is a plus for anyone who doesn’t fancy getting all dressed up, (I'm a traveller..
Both James and I had said we would meet for a beer for perhaps a couple of hours..... 5 and half later we find ourselves looking at the clock to find somehow its 1.30am... where did the time go??
The rain started a while ago and is still going... as we get ready to leave the barmaid asks if I would like an umbrella??!! OMG for free... its just part of the service!! Can't imagine that in the UK.
We then discover that we have missed the last train by some time and so we grab a taxi, thankfully James knew where to get one!
It was a fab night and great to see a familiar face and catch up. Dropping James off at his hotel and then onwards to mine... the time I got in and pottered about I think it was 3am... oh well at least I don't have to get up for work... unlike James... a good night... and great to catch up!
