I arranged to meet Mena and Robin this morning for breakfast at 10am and find myself waking up an 9.30am... a quick shower and I make my way to see them.... both are looking pretty tired and the dirty stop outs had stayed up until 3am eating ice-cream!!
Today as mentioned yesterday is the F1 GP final and I don't think there is any point venturing out into the city ...there is so little access and/or a long detour if the attraction is open.. ...so I'm taking advantage of a day at the resort doing nothing.... these days are rare when your on the move all the time.
We all grab breakfast and bring it back to the resort where we chat for a couple of hours before the temperature took over its another hot and humid day..
Mena is leaving tonight and has checked out and dropped her bag at Robins.. however she now wished she were staying longer.... a few phone calls later and at a cost of $700.... its a no go... we then head out for some lunch and spend the afternoon chatting... all too soon its time to say goodbye and both Robin and I see Mina off.
Its then Robin and I.... she is as mad as a hatter and if she were my mum I'd be worried... bless her... she has some stories to tell and perhaps not ones I should mention...
We pop into the mall and there is a show being performed.. by the the Kallang Theatre.
In its heyday, the Kallang Theatre was the setting for the Prime Minister's annual National Day Rally speech as well as original local works and world class musicals such as Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera. (One of my favourite musicals!)
The curtain came down on the 1,800-seat theatre on March 31, 2007, amid dwindling utilisation rates, as new venues such as the Esplanade-Theatres on the Bay moved into the spotlight
In August 2011, the Kallang Theatre came alive after a four-year hiatus with the ambitions of becoming a regional arts and culture hub.
It will stage a 80-minute musical primarily targeted at tourists and foreigners about the Republic's history from Sang Nila Utama days to modern day, titled Singapura - The Lion City Show and tonight they are giving a sneak preview which brings more than just a wide range of enchanting acts. It is an entertaining, enriching and educational musical performance on the Singapore journey of the many footprints left by heroes that has helped build a successful Singapore, the little dot of the world.
After the performance a quiet evening back at the resort having dinner....
Its so nice to have a base for more than 1 or 2 nights and to be able to both relax and venture without time restrictions.... I don't want to leave Singapore.... even though I know I have to soon.... however this is the country which I fly home from so I'll definitely be back and at that time the Christmas decorations will be up across the city which apparently is a must see!
