We travel by the tour bus to Padangbai which is a small town in eastern Bali. It serves as a ferry port for travel to Lombok where we are heading.
The first thing you notice and thankfully Dara explained is numerous locals running over to you trying to grab your bag and act as a porter... I cant tell you how many times you answer no and yet they still follow you... we wait for a while before boarding our ferry which takes 5 hours to cross to arrive in Lombok.
The ferry is an experience... they will not switch on the air con until the boat departs making it extremely hot and humid... there are mattresses on the front and rear of the boat which you can pay to sleep on which many of the locals do. You are also subject to lots of locals boarding before the boat departs trying to sell water, food and clothes... which becomes annoying!
There are also a number of children singing and playing the guitar for donations....
After what seems forever the siren sounds and were off... many of the girls are feeling unwell and are glad they took their anti sickness tablets!!!
We finally arrive in Lombok and another boat is still boarding and so we have to wait... again the air con is switched off which makes things slightly unbearable.... after 5 hours you just want off... I think we must of waited a good 45 minutes or so and finally our feet touch solid ground and we have our bus waiting... we head to Senggigi.
The Senggigi region is the main tourist destination on the island of Lombok. The main town is Senggigi itself, and the whole area is well known for its beautiful west facing beaches.
Our hotel is lovely and with most that we stay in we are greeted with a welcome drink before checking in... the rooms are fab and the bathroom this time really has the outside feeling and you share a garden formation... pretty cool especially as Carmen whom I am sharing a room hasn't seen before.
Tonight we are being picked up in an open air truck and taken to an Italian restaurant on the beach... the setting is beautiful and the sounds of the waves and sand inbetween your toes is cool.. our meal is fabulous.. its so good having a guide that takes you to the best places!!!
We then catch the truck back before chilling out for the rest of the evening... you can't help but love Bali.
