Where I stayed
On the way we make our first stop and visit Taman Ayun (a hindu temple). It translates as "beautiful garden' and is generally regarded as one of the most attractive temples of Bali. Taman Ayun is situated in a beautiful park with trees and ponds, near the village of Mengwi in the south of Bali at about 8 km southwest of Ubud and 18 km northwest of Denpasar.
Pura Taman Ayun was built in 1634 by the Raja of Mengwi, I Gusti Agung Putu. It is a so called 'Pura Kawiten' or family temple, a special temple where the deified ancestors of the Raja Dynasty of Mengwi and important gods of other temples are honored
After here we then visited another temple which is currently shown on the 50,000 Indonesian note and is a major water temple. The temple complex is located on the shores of Danau Bratan (Lake Bratan) in the mountains near Bedugal. Water temples serve the entire region in the outflow area; downstream there are many smaller water temples that are specific to each irrigation association .
Both temples are absolutely stunning and the area fab. Some temples are more tourist than others and its good to see all, but these are just beautiful.
We then continued on to our hotel and as mentioned I have my own room... and what a hotel to have it... its gorgeous right on the beach... the room is huge, the bed bigger, TV, minibar... its so good!!
Carmen is sharing with Tamara for two nights as I have so this will make a nice change.
We all straight out for lunch and also organise some of the tours we would be doing tomorrow
After lunch we all went our separate ways and enjoyed some more shopping. Carmen, Valentina and myself are all into this bartering... its so much fun!! And we all purchased some bargains!!
We walked back to the hotel along the beach and its not so peaceful... many people are trying to sell you fruit, sarongs and souvenirs..... its fun!
It was then back to the hotel pool which is divine, relaxed and then a few of us decided to have dinner at the hotel... the food was good and we were entertained by some local dancers.
Time to enjoy my room!! Until tomorrow... 6am start!
