Morning all from a very hot Bali!

I wake this morning at 6am (my body clock is still Oz and I think it's 8am!)  I have a shower which is just lovely....  The windows from the bathroom look out to the garden and are mirrored, so I can see out but you can't see in... not that you could as the garden is secluded to the suite!

I then make my way for breakfast which is just amazing... you can eat and eat and eat.... but I settled for toast and coffee.

So I'm currently staying in Canggu which is a coastal village and lies approximately 10 kilometers north of the hustle and bustle of Kuta. It presents a much more relaxing atmosphere of dining, cultural and beach activities. The main Canggu streets are Jalan Batu Bolong, Jalan Padang Linjong, Jalan Batu Mejan and Jalan Tanah Barak. Along Jalan Batu Bolong you find the temple of the dead, Pura Merajapati, and the Pipitan Cemetery. Along the beach there are two main temples, Pura Batu Bolong and Pura Batu Mejan, which are both hundreds of years old and were initiated for building by Dang Hyang Niratha. The Canggu area used to have scenic views of paddy fields and coconut groves but current rapid developments are quickly replacing these traditional views with private villas.

The hotel is very relaxing, small, luxurious whilst being a stylish boutique type of a hotel.  After 6 weeks of hostels and sharing it was definitely time for a bit of alone time!!  The suite is gorgeous and what better way to spend the morning walking the beach and then some pampering!!!

Echo beach has dark grey or black sand which is somewhat different to the white sands I've been walking on.  This beach is renowned and offers challenging surfing spots.  It's quite mesmerising to watch the surfers catching the crest of the waves.

Time to visit the spa and I firstly have a back and should massage... this is like nothing else I've ever experienced.  The massage was purely back and shoulders and what with my aches still from the boat surfing tour back at Airlie Beach... it was absolutely pure bliss.  Telu was fab and she really made a difference.. no more achy back!!  After what seemed forever she then asked me to sit and continued to massage my neck and shoulders.... heaven!!!

Next was a much needed pedicure!! A luxury one at that and a pure 1 hour of indulgence complete with hand painted flowers on my big toe... I am in Bali after all!! Both Telu and Ketue performed the pedicure... one foot each!!!   Yes I intend to take it easy until my tour begins!!

This afternoon I change to room number 3 and although its not a suite its still lovely... a big double bed complete with table, work desk and wardrobe.... something I haven't done since I've been away is empty my luggage and hang everything to air!!!  It's so nice to be able to leave my belongings out and not worry about them going missing!!   I also try to repair my bag... hmmm yes I was lazy and dragged it back in Sydney up the stairs instead of trying to lift it and yes it ripped!! Hmmm safety pins and a bit of DIY sewing.... maybe bag number 4 will make an appearance soon!

I take a shower and unlike my suite bathroom this room has an open wall... not completely.. (luckily) but you can view the day or night sky... a traditional bathroom in Bali I'm told.

I then settle for a bit of sun... its soooo hot... and humid!!!  I dip in the pool every now and then and have a lazy afternoon before hitting the bar and meeting Jon who is a European living in Australia and on holiday.... we chat for most of the evening...

A pleasant relaxing start to Bali....  and no doubt a few massages along the way....and  just like loreal.... I'm worth it!!
