First of all, I got 2 A's in my 2 classes at USAC! Second of all, I am really sad about all of my friends leaving back to the states this past Friday. And thirdly, I had an AMAZING time in Playa Hermosa this weekend with my new girlfriend Devon!
This weekend was filled with nothing but Spanish speaking with soooo many new people I met! On Friday, Devon and I went out to 'the backyard’ in Playa Hermosa with the Ireland surf team who competed in the Billabong Surfing Games this past week. It’s a fact that Ireland men are sooooo incredibly sweet and thoughtful. Each and every one of them is completely thoughtful and very humble. Unlike some professional surfers would be elsewhere in the world, the Ireland team was so down to earth and completely charming
Sunday, we woke up and I went into town to catch a bus back into Puntarenas so I could rest up from the weekend and re-group
Afterwards my run I stopped at my SODA to grab a bit to eat and Jose Macotello was there reading the news paper (soccer player) and we talked and it was the best talk ever, lol, just because he’s so handsome! J haha… then around eleven I went and met my Panama City friends and my Puntarena friends at the beach and we talked for 3 hours about everything. Also, I got up and salsa danced with my new gay friend, Arnold (Puntarena guy) right there on the beach.
One of the best things about being here is that throughout so many minutes of the day the Lord blesses someone new to meet and talk with in Spanish. I have met such genuine people from Brazil, Venezuela, Tennesse, and of course beautiful Costa Rican people. I thank God every minute of the day for giving me so much love and wonderful experiences throughout each and every day. I think the best thing about learning more and more Spanish is that now I am able to share more and more of my hopes, desires, dreams, and passions through words with the relationships that I share with my host family, my cooks, my maids, and my friends all throughout my days. They’re getting to know me more and more because I am learning little by little each day and talking more and more each day. Thank you Jesus so much for everything, I would not be the person who I am today and be where I am today without your blessings and guidance.

cards
! We had the best tuna filet steak crusted with sesame seeds I have ever had! This thing was gigantic! And thanks be to God that the owner of the restaurant bought dinner for Devon and I each or else we’d be eaten PB&J’s four times a day! J haha… but yes, the food at Las Olas is some of the best food I’ve ever eaten. Saturday, Devon and I went at had smoothies at Edmin’s Smoothie place and I played (and ALMOST beat) a Costa Rican that had been kicking everyone else’s butts for months. For the rest of the day we finished off the surfing games and practiced Spanish with these 2 surfers from Costa Rica. We played cards for over 2 hours and spoke Spanish the entire time. I LOVE LOVE LOVE speaking Spanish and meeting new people down here! I thank God every single day for the divine opportunities that I’ve had here to meet such wonderful, beautiful people and speak Spanish or just share hopes, dreams, goals and passions with. That night we went out with these surfers from Venezuela (Marcel and his friends) to a Tom Curren concert right there on the beach. It was such a great concert and to be there with great, life-loving people made it even better! After the concert we all went back to Las Olas and I talked Spanish with Edmin and Devon. It was such a wonderful night, great talks, all in Spanish, with such special people!Sunday, we woke up and I went into town to catch a bus back into Puntarenas so I could rest up from the weekend and re-group

. Before the bus came I had met 2 people from Panama City, both 22 years old just traveling around on their 2 weekend vacation like myself. Again, the entire time speaking in Spanish!!! J It was a blessing because one of them (Fernando) spoke English too so he helped me learn a few new words. They rode back to Puntarenas with me on the bus because they had so set plans and wanted to see Puntarenas as well before their trip to Puerto Vellejo. So on the bus we were talking Spanish and have a great time and got to talking with these other 22/23 year olds from Puntarenas! Three girls and one guy! THANK YOU GOD, the bus ride was sooo incredible, and we met very nice people my age who spoke clear Spanish and who were very very patient with me and helped me with my Spanish as well! I also met this other guy, David, who is from Puntarenas but lives in Heredia and goes to the University up there. We shared a bit about ourselves and how the culture is here and the culture is in America. I LOOOOVED IT!!!!!! J then we got back to Puntarenas and my SODA was closed so we went back to our friends houses and they cooked us dinner and we just talked out under the stars for 3 hours!!!!!!!!!!! It was soooooooooo marvelous!!! I then got a taxi home and unpacked then went to bed. It was the best sleep that I’ve had in soooo long. Today I woke up, went on a run and the beach was incredibly beautiful today. There was not a cloud in the sky and every person I passed had a huge smile on their face! Thank you Jesus
Edwin!
