Trish had cooked dinner when I got home from work, nice!, pork and vegies.  We had dinner and then I had a shower and got ready to go to Snow Patrol.  We were ready a bit early, which gave me a good excuse to stop by dairy queen and try out their blizzard - soft serve with chocolate bits mixed through it.  It was delicious, and we ate this as we walked down to the Metropolis.

We were suprised at how many scalpers were trying to sell tickets, we were talking briefly to a guy out the front while I finished my ice-cream who was trying to give away a spare ticket he had.

We went inside and tried to find ourselves the best position.  We had a look up at the balcony, but all the chairs were taken, so we went back downstairs and ended up getting a spot at the front of the bar section just behind the mosh pit, where we could also sit on the railing.  Perfect!

The Metropolis is a great venue as it's not too big, so you feel close to the band.  You also have to stand up for the whole performance which can be a bit tiring, however seems to add to the atmosphere, as people get more involved in the performance.

Ed Sheeran was the supporting act, and I didn't realise but I knew one of his songs pretty well.  I think I should purchase his album!  There were obviously some die hard Ed Sheeran fans in the audience, some right next to us, screaming and singing along. He's a pretty talented guy and used a special microphone to record himself and sing different parts of his songs.

Snow Patrol were fantastic also, and as you can see from the set list below the band did not disappoint.  I think the band really enjoyed themselves and fed off the knowledgeable and appreciative audience.  For example, without prompting, the audience began singing all of the words to “Run”.  Other participatory songs included “Shut your eyes”, “This isn’t everything you are” and “Lifening”.  It was really something to witness and to be part of.

It was funny when Gary forgot the lyrics to Chasing Cars. It was so ironic.  It's a song he's played a million times.

After the show we got let out a side door.  We came face to face with lots of police men and a guy being arrested and taken away.  We weren't quite sure what was going on, but crossed the road then stopped to watch!!  After we walked back home, and then off to bed!
