Got up around 11 this morning, and had some breakfast. Was feeling suprisingly well considering I had been up late last night, and seemed to consume a whole lot of alcohol!! However we did have a big dinner, and I stayed up for a bit when I got home last night and watched some tv and drank water (This is part of my no-hangover regime!!)

It was a beautiful day outside, so didn't want to stay inside and waste the weather. I knew there was a St Patricks parade happening around noon. By the time I got motivated and dressed and headed out, it was just before 2pm. Good timing as I started wandering along St Catherine Street, and the huge crowds told me I hadn't missed the parade!

It was unseasonably warm weather, with Environment Canada showing a record-smashing high of 23 C in Montreal. The record high for March 18 was previously 14 C, set in 2010. The sun shined all day, which was good news for the organizers of this year's St. Patrick's parade. The annual event drew a huge crowd to the city's downtown core. The Montreal St. Patrick’s Parade has run consecutively since 1824 and has been organized by the United Irish Societies of Montreal since 1928. Warm temperatures helped the event draw enough spectators to jam Saint Catherine Street between Fort and Aylmer Streets.

I had text Guddis to see whether she was keen to do something, so was keeping my eye out for her and spotted Schotty instead who had been out shopping for ipad gadgets. We watched the parade for a bit, and it was very warm in the sun. Guddis was not that keen to watch the parade so we decided to head to the Healthy Living Expo we had heard about at the convention centre. Schotty wasn't feeling the best so headed home.

When we got there, I finally got to see the pink forest that I had been looking for on the walking tour I did of the international quarter when I first arrived in Montreal. It must have been hidden by an exhibition which was on when I was there last. You had to pay to get into the healthy living expo, so we decided to give it a miss (a shame to be stuck inside anyway) and instead made our way down into the old port.

We walked along the Old Port Promenade, and were amazed how many people were out enjoying the sun. We stopped at Van Houtte and had something to eat, and relaxed on the steps in the sun. I got a phonecall from a guy Lucas who I had met walking home last night. He wanted to catch up tonight so I said why not.

Guddis and I continued along the Promenade and saw a huge crowd of people on Place Jacques Cartier. They were watching some street performers. We walked up this street and throught Vauquelin Square and through Champ de Mars to get home.

I was supposed to meet Lucas at Place Des Arts at 7, however he rang to say that he had his wallet stolen at the Metro, and had to go to the police station to make a report! He still wanted to catch up, so I went to St Huberts and had some dinner while I waited. He turned up around 8 and told me about getting robbed!

I think he was still a bit shaken up because he had chased the guys for a bit, so we just wandered along Maisonneuve to Crescent and back again and chatted for a bit. When Lucas went home I was pretty keen for an early night to try to make up for some of the sleep I had missed last night!!
