We arrived in Paris late on a Friday night and found a nice little bar across the road from our hotel for dinner and a couple of drinks before heading to bed.
First on the agenda was a trip to the Louvre, this is a life long dream come true for me as I have studied many of the paintings in the Louvre and it was great to finally get there. The Louvre building itself is pretty amazing. We headed straight for the Mona Lisa and queued up with the crowds for a glimpse of the most famous of paintings.
It was amazing to see many of the paintings I has studied such as 'The Raft of Medusa', 'Dantes Fury', and paintings by Rubens, Delacroix and many other greats. We spent the day wandering around the gallery and ended it with a few shots of Crap Elvis in the Louvre before being asked very politely by a French security man to kindly leave the premises as Elvis costumes were not allowed.
We spent the night wandering around the Montmartre area having dinner and a few drinks and seeing the famous Moulin Rouge.
We hired bikes for a ride around the city to all the sights, the Pompadou Centre, Notre Dame Cathedral, The Obelisk, Arche de Triomphe and Champs Eleysees Crap Elvis and Mona Lisa

. After a rest and some dinner we headed to the Eiffel Tower to see it in the dark. We arrived just as the sun had set in time to see the tower light up and sparkling. It was a beautiful sight and everyone in the area cheered. After the obligatory wait time we got up into the tower for a wonderful view of the city. Having seen the tower during the day - it was amazing to see it lit up at night.
We decided to have a relaxing day as I had a cold and was not well so we hung around our hotel until check out time and then went for a walk to Sacre Coer and down through Montmartre and found a restaurant that Melissa had recommended where we had a lovely lunch before catching the train to Bordeaux.
