We were up kind of early to prepare for another move. Had breakfast at the hotel and then went on a short walk with Stephanie around Colle before piling our stuff on a bus and heading to a villa near Chianti where we began our last hike. More beautiful scenery...this time a lot more vineyards as we move closer and closer to the Chianti Classico region. Overhead, beautiful clear blue skies with just enough of a breeze to cool us down (since it's still very warm weather).

Just when I thought this hike was going to be a piece of cake, we reached a trail through a vineyard on a hill that just wouldn't quit! We paused, from time to time, to catch our breath and munch on delicious malvesi grapes that had been left behind after the harvest....and we were finally rewarded, at the top of the hill, by reaching our destination, the lovely Ristorante Riserva De Fizzano. Can you believe it? We walked all this way only to find that Olive Garden actually does train their chefs in Italy. Here of all places! (There's no escaping the USA...)

Anyway, they had a lovely table set up for us al fresco and we enjoyed sparkling white wine, a Caprese salad and various other plates of goodies. Delicious!

After a long rest and enough time to explore the lovely grounds, we found our bus waiting for us a little bit down the road and, eventually, rumbled into Siena.

Siena is large and noisy -- and, frankly, our hotel is a dive. But Gary and I had a nice evening exploring il Campo after a whirlwind "See-Siena-In-Half-An-Hour" orientation by our guide.

Had Ribolitta and pizza -- plus Chianti and espresso-- at La Speranza. Managed to win a smile from a stressed out waiter that mumbled "Stupida gente" at the couple a few tables away...and then walked around a bit more, enjoying Siena after dark. It's beautiful at night and we can't wait to see the rest of the city tomorrow.
