Where I stayed
Overnativa Green Hostel
When we woke at 7am for the ferry to Ilha Grande, I am pleased to report that it was finally sunny again!!!
The ferry from Mangaratiba was at 8am, and we arrived on the island by 10. After checking in, we got straight on a boat trip!!
Met a couple of Brazilian girls, Flavia & Annie, and they happened to be staying at the same hostel as us - small world (well, I guess we were on an island!) We did a boat trip on the second day as well, and were really lucky with the weather as it had been raining before we arrived and started again after we left.
I also purchased a real handbag while on the island - as we had been in Rio, Julia and I had been using plastic bags - you know, to make it less obvious so we wouldn't get robbed! Anyway, you don't really need to do that on Ilha Grande, and we were the source of much amusement when we explained why we were all dressed up on a night out, and carrying carrier bags...so I splashed out and bought an actual handbag.
Ilha Grande was gorgeous - perfect for working on the tan that was fading fast after all the rain!
