Well, this is it. The end of the Paris line. Tomorrow I am off to London for two quick nights.
We have woken between 5 and 6 am each morning- until today. The first time I looked at the clock, it was 9!! I was surprised and thrilled. I gave a knock on the adjoining wall around 9.30 and we very slowly got it together. By lunch time we were ready to - get lunch- and bring it back here. Talk about lazy! Can you take a gander at our choice? Oui- Panini with chicken and bearnaise sauce- yummmmmmmmm...
When we finally got going to Montmartre for some shopping, big surprise, there were beaucoup stairs. The funiculair was not running so we had to climb 225 stairs - and that was only the beginning. We did some looking and shopping for art. Real art wasn't in the budget so I was content to buy a small painting for my wall
Last night I walked to the Eiffel Tower for a few photos and then Craig joined me to the Pont Neuf and Notre Dame. The floodlights brought out a detail that was lost during the daylight. It almost seemed to be a different place altogether. The Christmas tree out front of the church was blowing in the wind so the photos will definitely have some movement in them. It was a lovely way to see Paris. Lovers walked and homeless slept along the river. River boats went by one after the other in a line of sightseeing. The Hotel (mansion) de Ville was a gorgeous sight- something we had missed during our walk in this area during the day.
I did take a walk to St Sulpice where they were setting up for a Christmas Market- but the church was covered in scaffolding which was an unfortunate sight. The shops in the area were tres chic with many offerings of how to spend severla thousand Euros.
So, the bags are repacked, clothes are out for the morning, a breakfast of fresh apples, choclate pains and beignets are bought and we are basically ready to make our departures from Paris
Well, we decided to check out a few bars- but all we did was look in them. The smoke was thick- especially for us non-smokers who are used to smoke free restaurants and bars at home. We also stopped at the Trocadero- the best view of the Eiffel tower around. We got some excellent photos of it before it began to sprinkle. Now, bed time, I can hear the raindrops once more. It is a nice sound but not such a fun thought when you consider taking luggage to the metro tomorrow- oooh, and more stairs with luggage- :)
So, tomorrow London. I will hopefully find a cheap cyber cafe but in case the pound gets me down- I might not be able to say much until I arrive in Belgium on Monday evening. I wish you all a great weekend. Thanks for all the great comments- I really appreciate your supportive words and that you are actually reading this- that is a comforting feeling! Thanks! So, take care and for now, Aurevoir!
Love,
Kathryn

Me with the Tower
. Its a copy of a Paris scene but it will serve to remind me of the many memories from this beautiful place. Eiffel tower at night
. Craig and Sami will get to see their kitties tomorrow. I on the other hand will have to wait to see my Ally (dog) and Amos (cat). Well, we decided to check out a few bars- but all we did was look in them. The smoke was thick- especially for us non-smokers who are used to smoke free restaurants and bars at home.
