We had already decided to have a relaxing day at the hotel. The weather looked promising when I took breakfast alone on the sunny terrace. The sun was warm and I took plenty of time over my coffee. I spoke to the only Scandinavians of the trip, a Danish couple who had booked through friends in Germany. It seems the Scandinavian companies don't travel until May, which I think is a mistake. Admitedly, the weather was a bit changeable, but it was far from a Norwegian winter. In March it would be even better! I laughed, watching a man tease a cat with a piece of meat!
I went up to the room and gave Paul Eric breakfast in bed. I planned to go back down and sit in the sun with my book, but by the time I got downstairs, it was cloudy and cold. I sat inside, reading and writing, and even saw the rain after a while. Paul Eric spent the morning watching TV, until I sent him a text message that it was time to go out and get lunch. Relaxation is so sweet!
I waited for him in the hotel bar, where I was enjoying a cappuccino. Paul Eric arrived and I told him to go over to the barman, and order himself a non-alcoholic cocktail. Not being so experienced at French, he misread the drinks list, and ended up avoiding the drinks on the "sans alcohol" list, thinking they were alcoholic! The barman actually served him a Cocktail Paradise, and it was not until the bill came that I understood he had had alcohol, for those were 5 dinars more. Can't understand what the barman was thinking, but, hey, if it brings in more money.....? We had a good laugh about this, and Paul Eric messed around, pretending to be drunk.
The restaurant over the road was closed, and we decided 3 dinars each way into Midoun wasn't expensive since we were buying cheap sandwichs. We returned to our favourite place, frequented by locals. After, we looked around a bit and found a large supermarket. For 25 dinars we bought olive oil, oily soaps, coffee, tea, cereal bars, banana and chocolate shakes etc. This was really a good idea, in comparison with tourist shops. Then we found a really pretty pizzerian where we bought ice-creams. We also had a long and unfruitful visit to the internt café, where they didn't have Java, and neither were they able to install it.
Back at the hotel, we enjoyed a lovely swim before dinner, and a game of poole. Paul Eric was much better than me! We managed to stay up for the caberet, although tired. It was funny in parts, but rather poor taste! Just about every stunt had sexual content of a basic nature! Hmmm, who does this say most about, the people who organize it, or the people they think they are making it for? Not sure, really............People in general, I guess!
