My last two days in East London were rather tumultuous. The weather seemed to echo my mood; everything was grey, pouring with rain and a stormy wind - seemed like the sun would never shine again.
Last minute shopping and a taxi unexpectedly dumps me in a sleazy part of the town. It's as far as they can take me, just find another. Where? But they had already moved on. Trying to find my bearings I have a weird encounter with an obviously disturbed man, he demands to know who I am, believes I am not real, a mannequin, a dummy, he is frantic. People move away - that was even more scary - but no harm done, and now I wonder, which one of us was most frightened?
Another off-beat experience is watching coach loads of people assemble on the beach, some of them are escorted into the wild sea and dipped under
My luggage is packed and telling me it is time to go, and I want to protest: 'No, I'm not ready yet.' My friends at the shack are eyeing me up sympathetically, they seem to understand. Great staff, thanks for making me feel so welcome.
And then the last goodbyes - we smile, we'll meet again. But the missing has just begun.
That night I dream a strange dream of how the waves reach my wooden cabin and carry me in to the Indian Ocean - so, I will not be leaving Africa but just drift on and on in my little arc.
Silly dream. Of course I left the next day. Greig saw to that :) Thanks Greig for bringing me to the airport and for all the help and support you have given me during my stay
After all this moaning, the good thing about leaving, is arriving. To wrap your arms around your loved ones, see they are all right, funny how you suddenly realise you did miss them, and how lucky you are they are happy to see you back. Well, just imagine if they weren't :)
So it seems I've come to journey's end.

A little explanation here. Just after sending off some words and plans for the year ahead I noticed this entry in my drafts. Somehow overlooked it, not been that organised lately, not just lately, I guess.
I decided I did want to finish off with this one, so I'll just add on the plans and stuff:
Around May I hope to do some voluntary work in South Africa
June and July will probably be spent in Cledat
Maybe another trip to Africa (Mozambique) November-ish
Nothing definite yet but if all, or some, goes well, I'll be back with more travel stories.
I have also finally added some pics to the stories, starting from Mdumbi, I hope you will have a look, though they are not very good, they will give you a better impression.
And I want to thank you all for following my scribbles, or for taking the occasional peek. All very much appreciated, thank you, thank you.
Let's say, let's hope, see you soon? and bye for now.
