I was working on my last entry 'go home'. Nobody liked it.
Peter said it's not your best, Mieke told me what she didn't like, that was just about the whole thing and Patsy fell still - well, we all know what that means.
So I was fiddling about with it, trying to polish it up, failing miserably. I couldn't get it right and thought I might as well pack it all in when a notice pops up saying there's an email from Travelpod.
Alright, I think glumly, this is it. Now they are going to tell me to get off the site. I've probably broken some rule writing about lavatories and Joséphine Baker's bum, instead of the world famous caves of Lascaux, just around the corner from here.
With a knot in my stomach I open the email, and have to read it twice, no, three times before it sinks in.
Honestly, that's what it says.
Someone I don't know and haven't bribed has actually said that about my bits, just when I was feeling so low about them.
Of course I rush to tell my sisters - that'll teach them.
Fat lot of good that did me, they were in stitches all night. Begging me to dedicate the book I must now write to them, not to forget to mention them when accepting the inevitable writer's award, mustn't get above my station - well, no fear with them around........
Still, it did me the world of good, gave me a real lift, though I can't imagine I deserve those words of praise.
So, thank you, Louise Brown, travelpod community manager.
I'm not sure what that is but I bet you get a damn sight more respect than I do.
