JOURNEY: Benaraby to Woodgate

WEATHER: Fine, sunny

Woodgate Beach is one of our favourite locations and we are back for a week in our little shack opposite the beach. (For a detailed account of the place see our blog 277 "Lazy Sunny Days in Woodgate Beach" July 31, 2012)

Arriving Saturday late afternoon we parked at the end of the Esplanade for a quiet undisturbed stay next to Banksia Park and on Sunday morning collected the house keys. The day was sunny but windy and Woodgate was emptying after the school holidays.

The van is parked on the front lawn and we gave it a full wash, cut and polish during our stay. We had received some good advice on products and methods from Matt in Airlie Beach - thanks Matt- the van looks sparkling new again!

Kangaroos were keeping the lawns short but catching them on the beach was just a quick flash and they were gone.No photos!

Morning walks along the esplanade or the beach, depending on the tides kept us fit and a swim in the sea when conditions were appropriate kept us cool. The weather turned nasty on Thursday with heavy rain and gale force winds and low temperatures. But Friday saw the sun shining and the wind dropping.

Sunrises got Kath out of bed at 4.30am with colourful results on two mornings- cloud kept the skies pastel on the others.

A meal at the Bowls Club was delicious and at $10 great value; the venue is modern and offers great views of the sea. Recommended!

We did the 6km Banksia Circuit again but no wildflowers to be seen!

The week passed too quickly and the painters were arriving to do some work on the house so no extensions of the lease were available and we packed and drove off on Sunday morning, wondering when we would be back!

A stop at the Hollow Log farm and Wendy filled us in, as always with lots of gossip and stories as we selected fresh carrots, bananas, snap peas, lettuce etc. from her produce. She is a colourful character and we enjoy the interaction!

Next stop Tin Can Bay!
