Boyne river Rest area at Benaraby, a free camp was the noisiest overnight stop we had stayed at but the weather was cool and sleeping in the van with all windows closed blocked out the noise.

We have decided to take a break in Woodgate beach again and were able to book our shack for a week so it was back on the highway through Gin Gin and Childers and finally Woodgate Beach.

We have come a full circle, exploring central/western Queensland:  Rockhampton, Longreach, Mount Isa, along the Flinders Hwy via Charters Towers to Townsville and then back to Rockhampton- nearly 5000kms; happy that we did the journey in the cooler months as it is already heating up to 40 degrees.

We both agree that is good to be back on the coast. Why didn't we go to Far North Queensland?
Well we lived in Cairns for 5 years and explored that area extensively and we prefer travelling in the cooler temperatures- 25-30 degrees by day, 12-17 overnight and 50% or less humidity. So heading south feels good!
