Weather: Fine, sunny day again.

Monday August 13, time to quit our little shack at Woodgate; we got up early to watch the broadcast of the Olympic Closing Ceremony and a question- how come the "Rolling Bones" weren't featured? Mick could have put all the old rockers to shame...with songs like "You can't always get what you want" and "Satisfaction"!!!

We had to stop at Bundaberg, 50 kms from Woodgate to find someone to replace our missing hose that connects the grey water tank to the tap. No problems- the guys at Caseys on Steptoe St got to work straight away and $48 later we were on our way. Tick!

Next a stop at Bob Jane T-Mart to check the tyre pressure. Tick!

Called in at the Department of Environment........ to get information on Queensland National Parks but it seems these guys are presenting most of their information on line these days; we did however get a brochure on Cania Gorge, our next destination. Tick! 3 Ticks and you are out!!

After stocking up on the groceries, we grabbed some local sushi and realised that it was already 2pm, too late to do the drive to the Gorge. The 5.30am start to the day would take its toll on a long drive, and we are not in a rush so have time to be sensible!

A quick check of our Road Transport Rest Stops pamphlet (thanks Malcolm) and Camps 5 and we decided on the Gin Gin Rest area and it was a good choice- spacious, shady and clean with well maintained toilets and BBQ areas. A bit close to the Bruce Highway to expect a silent night but all other boxes were ticked.

The Burnett highway is edged by stretches of cane fields and a few sular refineries- wonder if the price of sugar and the high $A are impacting the farmers here.

When we pulled in at 4pm, we counted about 30 vans set up for the night; there is a 20 hour limit at these areas but some people flaunt the rules and risk having these facilities closed. Apparently this did happen not so long ago. It is a great service to travellers and gives us all a $0 overnight stop.

So with internet connection, TV reception and food and wine on hand we settle down to a night on/by the road. Put this blog on line, on time and then feet up!

Let's not forget "Words With Friends"- we have 6 games going!

Correction to the 'friends with words' comment - you only have 5 games going at present as I am struggling to think up the next word. Guess it will come to me soon. Happy free camping

Besos, mami
