It was 2 months ago that we bought our tickets for the Celebrity Summit Cruise visiting southern Caribbean islands for one week. Sheila's mum is joining us and she has never been on a cruise previously so it is exciting for her.
The travel agent in Carolina advised us to take a Celebrity ship and after extensive investigation on www.cruisecritic.com we agreed- their reviews were consistently good so the Celebrity Summit was our ship and wonderfully, it was in dry dock for a full renovation all of January so it was brand sparkling new!
On Saturday, excitingly we boarded around 1pm and made our way to the restaurant for our first on board meal. It was good!
Last time we went on a cruise was to Alaska and that time we had a cabin with balcony which was fabulous but the cost on this trip was prohibitive so we decided on an inside cabin on the highest accommodation level, knowing that we would inhabit the cabin only for sleeping.
Our cabin was 9139 and it was neat, kind of Scandinavian style with lots of storage and a really good sized bathroom.
As a precaution we gave ourselves regular doses of ginger tablets against sea sickness but the ocean for our day and night at sea was calm.
We joined as many activities as we could fit in, including a workout at the gym each morning, the entertainment in the theatre and nightclub- it was Super Bowl Sunday and we made it to Madonna’s performance on the big screen during half time. The massage bars in the spa pool was a favourite.
It almost goes without saying that the food is endless and fabulous!!
