WEATHER: hot, sunny- 23 degrees at 8.30am
JOURNEY: Shelley Beach to Albany- 80kms
We travelled the Lower Denmark Road to Albany, last visited after our stint in Lucky Bay early January.
We needed to do some washing and shopping and joined the Thompsons at the Panorama CP which at $25 pn was a better deal than the $42 pn we had to pay at The Rose Garden in the peak season!!
We had a lot of space on a grassy area overlooking the inlet and could see the lights of Albany by night. It is a lovely place to enjoy a night of leisure along the south coast of WA.
We awoke to an overcast morning but that didn't deter Emma who invited Sheila for a paddle in the kayak; there seemed no hurry to leave at this park so Sheila happily went along for the ride.
Joe was decorating his "storm pipe" didgeridoo and making a pretty good sound with it.
We will definitely miss John, Sarah, Joe, Chris and Emma; it was great to catch up with them throughout WA but we are moving east much faster than they, so it will be a while before we meet again. Farewell good friends!
We are very much aware that we are now heading east and leaving the "southern forests" of WA, an area of magnificent forests and spectacular coast. We have really loved this area and enjoyed perfect weather as we travelled; it seems that on the eastern seaboard this amazing destination remains a secret- maybe because it is so far away – but it is not to be missed.
So now it was full speed ahead over roads previously travelled.
