WEATHER: Sunny, 24 degrees

JOURNEY: Lucky Bay, Esperance, Cape Arid - 193 kms

MILEAGE: 31,135 kms

A quick trip into Esperance to get food and diesel and then onto Cape Arid NP, 120 kms east of Esperance. The journey seemed long and the 15 kms of dirt road tested our patience; the road was severely corrugated a lot of the way and we were happy to reach our destination. The bay was beautiful and the camping area was peaceful and newly refurbished.

We were happy to be in this remote and stunningly beautiful place- it was similar in some ways to Lucky Bay but much less crowded and busy.

the weather was cool, fine and sunny on our first afternoon, changing to cloudy and silvery the next. Happily the wind was mild and we enjoyed sitting outside admiring the spectacular views and watching the busy honey eaters darting amongst the banksias.

The coastal Tagon Trail took us to isolated beaches of pure white sand and torquoise ocean and we spied a few sea lions lazing close to shore.

the new kitchens were great and we cooked up a great dinner and watched the sunset.

We met Helen and Charlie who were hosting the camp and had hosted Lucky Bay last Xmas- we had lots to talk about and compared notes. They had done many hosting stints and we found their comments very intersting

This has been a wonderful camping experience- quiet , remote and stunning!!!!!
