Bruny Island Cruise

Back in Adventure Bay.

We waited for the perfect weather day and Friday was it but everyone else had the same idea so we had to standby on the waiting list; lucky for us 10 people missed the 9am ferry from the mainland so we made it. At $100 per person the 3 hour cruise is good value, very professional and extremely scenic.

We sped along with schools of dolphins,

witnessed the awesome beauty of the towering cliffs, sailed through a weathered arch and lingered at caves entrances and blow holes.

We think the high light was the seal colony where these lazy slippery creatures hang around on the remote rocks, catch fish and swim.

We saw eagles, gannets, cormorants and other sea birds and sailed into the wild Southern Ocean at the Friars, a southern rocky outcrop.

Being a warm calm day the ocean was kind to us, but we did take up the offer of the FOC ginger tablets just in case, and for warmth and dryness we were wrapped in long red raincoats.

We recommend this lovely adventure and the crew and staff were just great- friendly, helpful and gracious under pressure.

Bruny Island with a population of 600 is apparently about the same size as Singapore with her millions, so it feels almost uninhabited; the coast is rugged and jagged with gorgeous beaches and calm bays. Bruny is beautiful!!!
