Dicky Beach CP Caloundra $30pn
While Kath saw the dentist, Sheila checked in with Fiat for a few minor repairs to the van; they are still looking for a cheaper mud flap that we managed to rip off as we left home- the Fiat one costs $200. Now that is too much!
Enjoyed lunch with Cheryl and Malcolm, collected our mail and drove off along Holdway St on our way again, until the next dental appointment in 2 weeks. Oh dear I can't believe that I could not have picked a better time for this tooth business but never mind we will continue to circle around Brisbane until the job is done.
This afternoon turned out to be the first time we had got really lost, looking for a camping spot; well, we found the main turn off but the sign "Coochin Creek Camp Ground" had another sign that said “Vehicles over 3.5 tonnes use alternate route”. We are not sure of our total weight and not willing to risk falling thru’ the bridge or whatever. We already knew about needing to take another way, but got very lost on bumpy forest roads following our “CAMP 5” instructions to the other route and so we switched on our GPS, TOM_TOM who gave us a direction to somewhere 200 kms away.
Oh well, we kept our cool, gave up and went to a Caravan Park in Dicky Beach Caloundra for the night; got there after closing but the manager opened the office and checked us in. Decided to take advantage of the park’s modern spacious camp kitchen and barbecued some pork chops; with a salad of D’entrecasteau leaves and the usual bottle of red wine, in this case Merlot, we enjoyed a quick tasty meal and fell into bed, totally tired. Took a lovely stroll on the beach the next morning and headed off to our next destination.
